The APT is delighted to welcome Marie Lequin as its new Head of Operations. Marie brings over 20 years of experience leading human rights and humanitarian programmes in complex and sensitive environments. Her background spans strategic leadership roles with organisations such as Geneva Call, UNICEF, Search for Common Ground, and the Intersos.
"We are excited to welcome Marie to the APT," said APT Secretary General Nicole Hogg. "Her deep understanding of international human rights law, combined with her operational expertise and commitment to principled action, will be a great asset as we implement our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan.”
Marie has worked in a wide range of countries, including Afghanistan, Yemen, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Ukraine. In her previous role as Head of Region at Geneva Call, she managed multi-country operations in conflict settings, engaged in humanitarian diplomacy with armed actors, and contributed to global strategies that promoted the universality of humanitarian norms and gender mainstreaming.
Holding a Master of Advanced Studies in International Law in Armed Conflict from the Geneva Academy, Marie has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting the dignity and rights of people affected by armed violence, displacement, and deprivation of liberty.
As part of the leadership team, Marie will oversee APT’s operations and programmes, working closely with partners around the world to advance torture prevention efforts globally.
We warmly welcome Marie and look forward to this new chapter together.
